The Model Connection,
Inc agency owner Lisa Scott has always had the belief that personal,
scholastic and career success, although earned, is a gift to be
shared and a gift that warrants a certain responsibility. (A responsibility
to share ones motivation and wealth of knowledge with others.)
She has placed a large emphasis on volunteer and community involvement
throughout her life. When The Model Connection, Inc. first opened
its door over 9 years ago, Lisa had one additional requirement
of her talent other than providing their marketing tools. They were
required to do a certain amount of volunteer work per year. The
agency eventually grew to a size that made the tracking of donated
time impossible and the program "Model Citizens" was left behind.
That is until now. In the spirit of that original division, Model
Connection, Inc will now offer a Mentoring program to young people
called "A Day in the Life."
This mentoring program invites professionals of all types to spend
a day or a day at their job with a young person whose mind is
just starting to fill up with career aspirations. The program is
opened to students 12 to 14 years old and will run only during the
summer months of June 15 to September 15th when students are on
their summer break! This will give these young people the chance
to see what it is like to spend A DAY IN THE LIFE of someone working
their dream job.
We are looking for Mentors in all types of fields and you may choose
your availability and the amount of time you have to give of your
day(s). This is a great way to give of your already committed time
and to influence a young person . You and your company will receive
a certificate stating that you are a Model Citizen, Mentor for 2003,
your photo will be featured on our website and more importantly
you will be making a difference.
The first step is to fill out the application letting us know what
you do in your field. Once approved by your company you will then
be contacted as the summer school vacation gets closer and we will
match you up with a student. Your donated day should be a fun, educational
and motivational experience and it is your choice as to how you
wish to conduct your day. We also ask that you include lunch in
your day. You may give a half a day or several days throughout the
break period, any and all donations of time are greatly appreciated.
At the WIFV 2002 Charm City Awards Lisa Scott had the pleasure of
honoring her Mentor and friend, Nancy Suerth, owner of Accurate
Casting and Talent by presenting her with the Phenomenal Woman Award.
The presentation and teary-eyed speech of Ms. Scott thanked Ms.
Suerth for all of the great gifts she had shared throughout the
years but the first on the list was "Thank you for always having
the time."
Take some time to mentor a student, motivate a young mind and share
a Day in the Life of YOU!!!!!!
